We are surrounded by electronics. Almost everywhere we look, we can spot an electronic device. However, most of the electronics around us follow the same concepts. For years industry and research craved for developing smaller form factors and increasing performance and speed, nonetheless always with one constant parameter: electronics are rigid. But this dogma seems to collapse, since recent research and industry demands seem to break new ground and open a new perspective for future developments. Future electronics should be flexible or even stretchable, conform to arbitrary shapes and be lightweight, but should, nevertheless, be robust and reliable.
