Zusammenfassung

Der Geograph David Harvey gilt als eine der Gründungsfiguren kritischer Stadtforschung und ist bis heute ein wichtiger Impulsgeber dieses transdisziplinären Feldes. Seine zahlreichen Arbeiten zu kapitalistischer Stadtentwicklung und urbanen Kämpfen sind von einer an Marx orientierten, politökonomisch informierten Perspektive geprägt (vgl. Merrifield 2002: 133 ff; Wiegand 2013). Gleichzeitig geht Harveys wissenschaftliche Praxis weit über kritische Stadtforschung hinaus.
