Zusammenfassung

Wasserkraft hat im deutschen ‚Energiemix‘ traditionell nur lokal eine Bedeutung und auch zukünftig spielt sie bei der Energiewende, aufgrund des geringen Ausbaupotentials, eine nur geringe Rolle. Demzufolge wird in Deutschland gesellschaftlich, bei Fragen um Energiewende und Partizipation, wenig an die Wasserkraft gedacht. In diesem Artikel wird dargestellt, dass international der Hydroenergieausbau hingegen stark forciert wird, v. a. in Schwellen- und Entwicklungsländern erfolgt ein rasanter Ausbau.
