Zusammenfassung

In der Monografie The Architecture of Markets entwickelt Neil Fligstein einen eigenständigen Ansatz der wirtschaftssoziologischen Forschung, den er selbst als „political-cultural approach“ bezeichnet. Eine Besonderheit des Ansatzes ist die handlungstheoretische Fundierung, die das Motiv der Existenzsicherung ins Zentrum der Überlegungen rückt. Der Ansatz setzt sich damit bewusst ab von ökonomischen Theorien, in denen die Profitmaximierung als handlungsleitend angenommen wird.
