Abstract

The purpose of this thesis was to inquire into the foundations, inauguration and development of the principle of Member State liability by analyzing the jurisprudence of the Court over time, as well as to afford the reader with a thorough grasp of the subject. Additionally, it sought to determine whether the existence of a fourth stage in the evolution of the principle could be demonstrated.
