Abstract
Trainees’ affective reactions as training outcomes are widely considered of minor importance in training research. But it is expected that they play a relevant role in learning and motivation, so predictors of these reactions are of high interest. Drawn from education research, we examined the relation of 614 trainees’ affective reactions as well as their evaluation of training and trainer with 69 occupational trainers’ approaches to teaching, teaching methods and training content. Results suggested that learner-focused approaches to teaching and corresponding training methods were related to positive affective and evaluative reactions of the trainees. Trainee reactions and trainers’ approaches to teaching as well correlated with training content.
