Zusammenfassung
Seit der Erstveröffentlichung der englischen Ausgabe von Feuer und Zivilisation sind über zwanzig Jahre vergangen. Die Kernaussagen des Buchs haben nach wie vor Bestand. Doch es gibt mehrere Gründe, der zweiten Ausgabe ein Nachwort anzufügen. Zunächst einmal sind mittlerweile neue Belege und neue Ideen publiziert worden. Sie legen beispielsweise nahe, dass sich der früheste Zeitpunkt einer möglichen Feuernutzung erheblich weiter zurückverlegen lässt als bislang vermutet.
