Abstract

In the preceding chapter, based on the findings from the empirical study, a concept was presented how complexity may be answered in sensemaking processes. In order to synthesize both the empirical and theoretical findings, this chapter derives distinct challenges for each phase of the sensemaking process for information systems support and formulate propositions for them. Theoretically, it was found that reducing external complexity from the environment, especially in situations where the ecosystem is comprised of a multitude of heterogeneous actors, demands additional processing of stimuli from agents. This leads to a need for processing stimuli and for evaluating these in order to determine if schemata need to be adapted.
