Abstract
The purpose of the present study was defined as twofold. On the one hand, it aimed to explore how the anti-Roma prejudice of adolescents develops in Hungary, where the vast majority of the population expresses prejudice against diverse minority groups. On the other hand, general conclusions were to bedrawn concerning the underlying mechanisms leading to ethnic prejudice in adolescents which should contribute to the sociological and social psychological knowledge about the acquisition of prejudice. Based on an overview of the existing theories about the development of prejudice during adolescence, factors playing a role in this process were structured according to three analytical levels: the individual level, the micro-context, and the broader social context.
