Zusammenfassung
Wir haben viele mögliche Faktoren für Erfolg kennengelernt: Begabung und Intelligenz, Persönlichkeitseigenschaften wie Ausdauer und Fleiß oder auch familiäre und soziale Förderung bereits im Kindes- und Jugendalter. Wie wir gesehen haben, scheinen die hochbegabten Kinder und Jugendlichen nur geringen Erfolg mit ihrer Karriere zu haben. Sieht man sich die Kriterien für Erfolg näher an, so braucht man „zum schnellen Anhäufen eines großen Vermögens oder zum Aufstieg in hohe Ämter in der Regel weniger eine hohe Intelligenz als vielmehr Rücksichts- und Empathielosigkeit, ein geringes Risikobewusstsein und moralische Flexibilität, von psychopathischen Persönlichkeitsmerkmalen ganz zu schweigen“, wie etwa Gerhard Roth anführt. Möglicherweise mangelt es Hochbegabten an Motivation für derlei oder ihre Persönlichkeit ist anders gestrickt. Was jedenfalls klar ist: Leistung wird maßgeblich von der Motivation und vom Fleiß beeinflusst.
