Abstract
The technological progress achieved in medical imaging has strongly influenced medical diagnostics and therapy. To identify a specific disease pattern and decide on an appropriate method of treatment, physicians depend on information from the inside of the human body. Therefore, research interest in medical imaging technologies has significantly increased during the last decades. To gain as many information as possible, images of high spatial and temporal resolution are desirable, but at the same time, the dose of ionizing radiation applied in some imaging modalities, as for instance in computed tomography (CT) [Buz08], needs to be kept preferably low.
