Compared with the conventionally powered vehicle, which has undergone continuous enhancement in recent decades, further development steps are still necessary for the market acceptance of the electric vehicle. This involves both the development of new technologies and components and optimum integration into the vehicle concepts. Here, the main focus of the e-generation research project is also on integrating newly developed components into an existing vehicle concept. The primary objective is to optimize the overall result with regard to efficiency, weight, day-to-day usability and costs and implement it in the prototype. To this end, a consortium was formed in which not just the vehicle manufacturer and universities, but also the suppliers of the relevant components are represented. This document describes the objectives and the current status of the e-generation research project.
