Zusammenfassung

Nach der Präsentation regional spezifizierter Basisdaten zu Migration, unterscheidet der Text drei Phasen des Verhältnisses von Migration und Entwicklung mit Pendelbewegungen von einer positiven zu einer negativen und erneut einer positiven Bewertung. Allerdings bleibt die Debatte dem modernisierungstheoretischen Paradigma verhaftet, da Wirtschaftswachstum und das Senden von Rücküberweisungen synonym mit positiv erachteten Migrationsformen gesetzt werden. Anschließend werden Fragen von Migrationskontrolle und Nationalstaatlichkeit sowie politischen Initiativen zu Migration und Entwicklung beleuchtet.
