Zusammenfassung
„Europe’s Call to Intolerance“ lautete der Titel der Washington Post im Jahr 2009 kurz nach der Abstimmung über das Verbot von Minaretten in der Schweiz. Durch den steigenden Individualismus, die erhöhte Immigration sowie durch den fortwährenden Wandel in der Gesellschaft treffen vermehrt divergierende Werte, Lebensweisen und Kulturen aufeinander, wodurch der Ruf nach Toleranz in modernen Zivilgesellschaften immer lauter wird (Dunn 2012; Inglehart 1977; Inglehart und Baker 2000).
