Abstract
By the proposal of the Department of Steel Structures, Technical University of Budapest (initiator – Prof. Miklos Ivanyi), with the active cooperation of similar departments of the countries along the Danube, in 1990 began to organize the International Conference on “BRIDGES ON THE DANUBE” for September 7 - 11, 1992 being held in Vienna - Bratislava - Budapest.
These conference-series are organized periodically each third year (starting from 1992) in different Danube countries: Bucharest (1995), Regensburg (1998), Bratislava (2001), Novi Sad (2004), Budapest (2007) and Sofia (2010).
The Eight International Conference will be held in Timișoara, October - 2013.
The aim of the conferences are the overall exchange of knowledge and experience between different institutions, owners, contractors, bridge designers and constructors, as well as scientific experts.
On the occasion of the different conferences - for subsequent publication - collection of material for Catalogue of the Danube Bridges had been initiated, including all kinds of technical and historical data.
The paper summarizes the 22 years activity on the organization of the International Conferences on Bridges across Danube.
