Zusammenfassung

Mobilität und Flexibilität stellen in den Arbeitswelten der Gegenwart fast schon fraglos akzeptierte Anforderungen an das Subjekt dar und scheinen die notwendige Voraussetzung dafür zu sein, überhaupt noch Teil ökonomisch integriert zu werden.

Ausarbeitung des Beitrags für die Session „Mobilität und Identität – Widerspruch in der modernen Gesellschaft?“ des SGS-Kongresses in Genf, 7.-9. September 2009 sowie des Beitrags für die Veranstaltung „Transnationale (Neu)Ordnungsprozesse von Raum, Geschlecht und Körper“, 35. DGS-Kongress in Frankfurt, 10.-15. Oktober 2010 (vgl.     Als unvollständige Haushalte wurden diejenigen Paarhaushalte von der Analyse ausgeschlossen, für die nur eine Person den Personenfragebogen ausgefüllt hatte.

    Für Frauen besteht mit Cramers V=.22 in England, und Cramers V=.23 in der Schweiz ein hochsignifikanter negativer Zusammenhang zwischen der Pendelzeit und dem Vorhandensein von Kindern in ihrem Haushalt. Für Männer hingegen besteht ein schwächerer, aber ebenfalls hochsignifkanter Zusammenhang von V=.16 in der Schweiz und in England, der allerdings gegenläufig ist, d.h. Kinder gehen statistisch mit längeren Pendelzeiten einher.

    Jürges (2006) schlägt vor, Paare weiter nach ihrer traditionellen oder gleichberechtigten Arbeitsteilung zu differenzieren, indem zusätzlich die Beteiligung an der Hausarbeit an Wochenenden in die Analyse mit eingeht. Diese Variable steht allerdings für die beiden hier verwendeten Datensätze nicht zur Verfügung.
