Zusammenfassung
Dieser Beitrag analysiert die Ausgestaltung und Funktionsweise zentraler Elemente der US-amerikanischen Demokratie. Angesichts der aktuellen politischen Herausforderungen wird gefragt, inwieweit die vielfältigen Krisenkonstellationen der jüngsten Vergangenheit die Qualität der Demokratie in den USA beeinträchtigt haben. Dabei wird aufgezeigt, wie sich unterschiedliche Krisenphänomene im Systemkontext der US-amerikanischen Politik und Gesellschaft niederschlagen.
