Zusammenfassung

Der Artikel bietet eine problemorientierte Skizze der Sozialpolitik in den USA. Aus einer vergleichenden Perspektive werden dabei sowohl konzeptionelle als auch empirische Besonderheiten des US-amerikanischen Wohlfahrtsregimes diskutiert. Anhand der Bereiche Alterssicherung, Gesundheit und Sozialhilfe werden die Kernmerkmale von US-Sozialpolitik herausgearbeitet, die sich insbesondere im Bereich der privaten Absicherung und der staatlichen Subventionierung von Sozialpolitik über das Steuersystem zeigen.
