Abstract
The aim of this chapter is to set out in detail the OIP lifecycle model so that it can be used by both parties, researchers, who wish to allocate their research in the lifecycle of an OIP, and practitioners, who aim at identifying critical activities in each phase of an OIP’s lifecycle. To begin with, the importance of the single phases in an OIP’s lifecycle is assessed in the OIP lifecycle model. The ensuing sections 4.1 to 4.6 explain the phases concerning their critical activities as derived from the three in-depth cases.
