Typology of OIP projects

  • Chapter
  • First Online:

Abstract

As discussed in the preceding chapter, OIIs fulfill certain functions. The services of all OIIs that were investigated according to those functions are almost identical. However, the approaches of these OIIs differ in major aspects. Thus, these functions do not suffice to classify OIIs. As proposed above, a new function providing and managing technology is introduced. This function embraces the two major activities in an OIP lifecycle, as derived from the literature: OIP design and OIP management.
