Abstract

Die Familiensoziologie war über lange Zeit mit den jeweils vorherrschenden theoretischen Positionen in der allgemeinen Soziologie verbunden. Zunächst standen funktionalistische und rollentheoretische Ansätze sowie ihr Zusammenwirken im Vordergrund. Die Weiterentwicklung in Richtung des Makroansatzes hin zur Systemtheorie ging allerdings an der Familiensoziologie fast spurlos vorüber. Hingegen konnte sich der Symbolische Interaktionismus zumindest in Grenzen und in Kombination mit der qualitativen Sozialforschung in Deutschland behaupten, während die ihrem Anspruch nach explanativen Handlungstheorien das Forschungsfeld in der Familiensoziologie heute eindeutig dominieren. Die Ökonomische Theorie hat fast alle Teilbereiche der Familiensoziologie durchdrungen und spezifische Weiterentwicklungen in Verhandlungs- bzw. Bargainingtheorien gefunden. Die Austauschtheorie ist mittlerweile in die allgemeinere Rational-Choice-Theorie integriert, die ihrerseits Spezifikationen beispielsweise im Framing- und Commitment-Ansatz gefunden hat. Die Familiensoziologie ist somit fest in ein Paradigma eingebunden. In der Kuhnschen Sprache wird hier Normalwissenschaft betrieben, es werden erfolgreich ‚Rätsel‘ gelöst.
