Abstract

In social science, reconciliation has only recently been defined. Kelman has argued that the establishment of “Truth and Reconciliation Commissions”, especially the South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission, served as a main marker that the term reconciliation has been transferred from a religious into a social science term. (Kelman, 2008b) Post-war reconciliation between countries and inner-state groups has become a hotspot of scholarship in IR Studies. This text only examines interstate reconciliation, which excludes conflict resolution within a political unit, e.g. state.
