Part of the book series: Familienunternehmen und KMU ((KMU))

Abstract

Recent corporate scandals and the economic crisis have shaken society’s trust in the corporate world. The destruction of documents at Enron and Arthur Andersen, charges of fraud at Parmalat and WorldCom, questionable CEO compensation packages at Tyco, and billion dollar trading losses at Société Générale have placed corporate betrayals of trust at the center of many stakeholders’ attention (Snider, Hill, & Martin, 2003; Bachmann, Gillespie, & Kramer, 2011).
