Zusammenfassung

Geboren wird Roland Barthes am 12. November 1915 in Cherbough, Manche. Sein Vater Louis Barthes stirbt im ersten Weltkrieg als Marinesoldat 1916. Darauf folgt ein Umzug mit der Mutter Henriette Barthes zu Verwandten nach Bayonne. Im Jahr 1924 zieht die Familie nach Paris, wo Barthes das Lycée Montagne besucht.
