Zusammenfassung

Die Debatte über die Personalisierung ist in aller Munde, in Deutschland wie anderswo. Spätestens seit Martin Wattenbergs Buch "The Rise of Candidate-Centered Politics" wird davon ausgegangen, dass Personen in der Politik für den Wahlerfolg einen Unterschied ausmachen. Ein Strang der Erklärung der Bedeutungszunahme geht davon aus, dass der Wandel in der politischen Kampagnenführung nicht zuletzt durch die Bedeutungszunahme der elektronischen Medien der Personalisierung der Entscheidungskalküle Auftrieb gegeben hat (Hayes 2009).
