Abstract
The following sections provide useful background information for Tom, Ina, and Norm to update their knowledge and check their intuition against scholarly publications. First, the history of research investigations and writings are briefly outlined and constraints of this stream of literature are displayed. Moreover, a definition of organizational innovation communities is provided, juxtaposing various definitions discussed in literature. Lastly, a framework for the analysis of scholarly works is presented.
Part II is based on a previous conference article (Bansemir, Neyer, & Möslein, 2009) presented and discussed at the 2009 annual conference of the European Academy of Management (EURAM) and an unpublished working paper (Bansemir, Neyer, & Möslein, 2010) at the 2010 research colloquium Innovation and Value Creation in Beilngries.
