Zusammenfassung

Der arabische Frühling, der in der Region selbst meist als „Revolution“ oder „(Wieder-)Erwachen“ bezeichnet wird, hat zu einem Neuaufleben des medialen wie politischen Interesses am Thema Frauenrechte geführt. Zunächst schien die deutlich sichtbare Beteiligung von Frauen an den massenhaften Protesten ein Aufbrechen fest gefügter Geschlechterhierarchien und Geschlechterstereotype anzukündigen.
