Strategic Cultures in Europe

Abstract

As with any other nation-state, Greece’s principal objectives in the security realm are the preservation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity: „The preservation of peace and our country’s territorial integrity and the protection of national independence, sovereignty and safety of our people from any external attacks or threats.” (Greek Ministry of Defence 2012) In the case of Greece, security policy is essentially defence policy and the main objectives in the security realm, apart from the obvious general support for peace and international security, relate to territorial and national defence.
