Zusammenfassung
Soziale Normen sind gemeinsam geteilte Erwartungen, dass in bestimmten Situationen ein bestimmtes Verhalten gewählt werden soll und dass abweichendes Verhalten mit Sanktionen beantwortet wird. Normen lösen bestimmte Verhaltensregelm äßigkeiten in wiederkehrenden Situationen aus. Obwohl es auch eine Reihe weiterer Modellierungsinstrumente gibt, stellt dieser Beitrag ausschließlich Grundideen und Ergebnisse entscheidungs- und spieltheoretischer Modelle sowie entsprechender Simulationsstudien vor. Zunächst wird ein knapper Überblick zu begrifflichen Fragen gegeben. Die beiden am weitesten verbreiteten Definitionen des Normbegriffs werden kurz charakterisiert und diskutiert. Ausführlich erläutert werden einige wichtige Aspekte und Ergebnisse spieltheoretischer Modelle. Ein dominanter Ansatz ist die Konzipierung und Erklärung sozialer Normen über wiederholte Spiele. Eines der grundlegenden Folktheoreme der Theorie wiederholter Spiele wird in einer vereinfachten Fassung vorgestellt. Die Folktheoreme können grundsätzlich dazu dienen, Bedingungen für die Lösung des Problems der Kooperation zweiter Ordnung (unter welchen Bedingungen sind Akteure bereit, Kosten für die Sanktionierung abweichenden Verhaltens aufzuwenden?) aufzuzeigen. Die Analyse wiederholter Spiele erlaubt die Formulierung empirisch prüfbarer Hypothesen über Wirkungen verschiedener Parameter (z.B. ” Schatten der Zukunft“) und sozialstruktureller Randbedingungen auf die Durchsetzung sozialer Normen. Neben wiederholten Interaktionen verweisen spieltheoretische Modelle auf weitere Mechanismen, zum Beispiel spezielle Präferenzstrukturen. In der spieltheoretischen Literatur vorgeschlagene alternative Gleichgewichtskonzepte werden ebenfalls vorgestellt. Simulationsstudien haben ein breites Spektrum von sozialstrukturellen Randbedingungen und auch alternativen Verhaltensannahmen bis hin zu evolutionären Mechanismen der Gleichgewichtsauswahl einbezogen. Ein Kernproblem, das untersucht wurde, ist auch hier die Lösung des Problems zweiter Ordnung oder der Entstehung von Normen, die durch die Normadressaten selbst sanktioniert werden. Es gibt unterschiedliche evolutionäre Erklärungen solcher Normen, wobei unter anderem Gruppenselektion diskutiert wird. Simulationen beziehen auch Wirkungen verschiedener Formen der Einbettung in soziale Netzwerke und unbeabsichtigte Effekte bei der Normentstehung mit ein.
