Abstract
This chapter examines the technological foundations of Semantic Product Query Systems (SPQS). It is divided into four sections. The first section covers the principles of the Semantic Web and the Internet of Things, with a focus upon means of information representation. The second section aims to provide a literature overview of the origins and the state of the art of semantic product data modeling. The third section reviews technology paradigms that might be of particular importance with respect to the design and development of semantic product query systems. The fourth section details a selection of quality-related aspects of semantic product query systems, before section five wraps-up the content of this chapter.
