Abstract

Previous research suggests that a well-functioning, transparency-enhancing and comprehensive EWS may prevent a company from running into a foreseeable turnaround situation, such as severe performance decline or cash shortage, which may consequently result in bankruptcy. This study aims to analyze to what extent family members’ involvement and influence in the TMT of family businesses and the existence of supervisory boards affect the existence of EWSs in family businesses.
