Zusammenfassung
Operations Management ist ein Begriff, den wir in Deutschland bis zum Jahr 1990 kaum gekannt haben. Zunehmend finden wir bei uns Betriebe, bei denen vom Operations Bereich gesprochen wird. Im Rahmen der vermehrten Verwendung von Anglizismen steht dieses häufig für Produktion oder Produktion und Logistik in Industrieunternehmen.
In den englischsprachigen Ländern, insbesondere in den USA, hat der Begriff Operations Management jedoch schon eine lange Tradition:
• Operations Management is how organizations produce goods and services [SCJ04]
• Operations Management is defined as the design, operation, and improvement of the system that create and deliver the firm`s primary products and services [CJA04]
