"Ich dusch nur mit dem Arsch zur Wand": Verletzungsmacht und Verletzungsoffenheit als simultane Konstruktion von Heteronormativität

Zusammenfassung

Männer können sich über unterschiedliche Strategien ihrer Verletzungsmacht als Signum von Männlichkeit versichern. Zum einen eignen sich dafür hierarchische Geschlechterdifferenzierungen, zum anderen die Konstruktion eines verletzungsoffenen homosozialen Gegenübers, was unter dem Titel hegemoniale Männlichkeit verhandelt wird. Relevant ist aber auch - das ist die These des Beitrags - eine dritte Option, nämlich die Herstellung von Verletzungsmacht über Verletzungsoffenheit. Gemeint ist damit ihre simultane diskursive Konstitution: Sehen sich Akteure durch Gewalt von Männern gefährdet, schlagen sie prophylaktisch zu (und nicht lediglich als Reaktion zurück). Wie eine solche Gewaltrelation - auch wenn sie nicht real existiert, sondern kontrafaktisch antizipiert wird - für identitäre Positionierungen genutzt wird, will ich am Beispiel von Homophobie im Fußball darlegen: Fans, Spieler und Fußballinteressierte konstruieren mit dem ominösen Ort der Dusche ein exklusives homosoziales Schlachtfeld für die Herstellung und Bewahrung von Mannsein, das außerhalb dieses Raums und sonst in der Gesellschaft vermutlich kein Pendant hat.

Grundlage meiner Ausführungen sind 24 Gruppendiskussionen mit Fußballinteressierten, SpielerInnen und Fans unterschiedlicher Geschlechter, sexueller Orientierungen, Nationalitäten und Ethnizitäten, Alter, Schichten und (Nicht)Behinderungen.

Abstract

Men are able to reassure themselves of their power to inflict hurt as a sign of masculinity by using different strategies. One type of strategy available for achieving this is creating hierarchical gender differentiations, whilst another lies in the construction of an opposing homosocial other who is open to being hurt. This strategy is dealt with under the heading of hegemonic masculinity. The argument being put forward in this essay is the relevance of a third option which is how men generate power to inflict pain over those who are vulnerable to it. By this we are referring to its simultaneous discursive constitution. If social actors see themselves threatened by male violence they hit out prophylactically (and not merely as a reaction). I intend to show how such power relations - even when they do not actually exist but are being counterfactually anticipated - are being employed for positioning one’s identity, by using the example of homophobia in football. Fans, players and those interested in football construct via the dubious sphere of the showers an exclusive homosocial battle ground where manliness is created and maintained and which presumably has no equivalent outside this sphere nor found anywhere else in society. Forming the basis of my analytical observations are 24 group discussions with people interested in football, women footballers and fans of both sexes, of different sexual orientations, ethnic backgrounds and nationalities, and from different social classes and with (non) disabilities.
