Joseph Vogls (2010) in Das Gespenst des Kapitals skizziertes Konzept der Oikodizee stellt den Versuch dar, gleichermaßen den Prozess der Genese kognitiver Autorität der Mainstream-Wirtschaftswissenschaft zu beleuchten wie zu deren Destabilisierung beizutragen. Sein Projekt einer Analyse der „Diskursform der politischen Ökonomie“ (ebd.: 53) kulminiert in der Forderung nach einer „Säkularisierung ökonomischen Wissens“ (ebd.: 176), es müsse darum gehen, „Ökonomien ohne Gott, Märkte ohne Vorsehung und Wirtschaftssysteme ohne prästabilisierte Harmonien in Rechnung zu stellen“ (ebd.).
