Zusammenfassung
Metabolische Veränderungen des Säure-Basen-Haushaltes entstehen als Komplikation eines Grundleidens. Dekompensiert können sie den Ablauf der Krankheit fatal dirigieren. Es kann nicht prägnanter formuliert werden als durch den Satz des in diesem Jahr verstorbenen Hans Baur [6]: „Der eigengesetzliche Ablauf des anfänglichen Nebengeschehens kann für den Ausgang der Grundkrankheit determinierende Bedeutung erlangen“.
