Abstract
One of the most striking features of carcinoid disease is the so-called flushing syndrome. Although many other manifestations associated with this disease, such as diarrhea, abdominal colic, vomiting, and loss of weight might be present, the flushing syndrome is specific of carcinoid disease. It is the most unpleasant and dramatic manifestation of this condition and its severity fully indicates the progress of carcinoid activity, and the increasing production of 5-HT by the carcinoid tissue. As Davies (1960) points out, the flushing syndrome appears in various degrees of severity.
