Abstract
The present investigation was undertaken in the hope that it would be possible by means of Golgi methods to reveal certain features in the organization of the vestibular nuclear complex which might supplement information obtained by other methods. In particular, it was hoped that new data might be brought forth concerning 1 the branching patterns and distribution of dendrites and axons of nerve cells in the various parts of the vestibular complex, 2. mutual interconnections by dendrites or axons between different subdivisions of the complex, 3. branching patterns of fibres in the various contingents of afferents, and 4. interrelations between afferent fibres and nerve cells, including the modes and sites of contacts on the cells.
