Lotus Notes ist eine etablierte Groupware1-Lösung mit einer beeindruckenden Zahl von installierten Lizenzen weltweit. Es besteht aus einer Server- und einer Clientkomponente. Der Client kann auch als Standalone-Variante zur Büroorganisation am einzelnen Arbeitsplatz genutzt werden, besondere Leistungsfähigkeit wird jedoch erst durch die Ankopplung an die Serverkomponente Lotus Domino erreicht.
