Zusammenfassung

Die rückenmarknahe (neuroaxiale) Applikation analgetisch wirkender Substanzen stellt eine Weiterentwicklung und Ergänzung der systemischen Pharmakotherapie dar, mit dem Ziel, Analgesie und Nebenwirkungen zu trennen. Epidural oder intrathekal verabreichte Analgetika führen zu einer segmentalen Hemmung des nozizeptiven Systems und zeigen bei regional begrenzten Schmerzen einen stärkeren und länger anhaltenden analgetischen Effekt als eine orale oder parenterale Gabe gleicher Dosis.
