Zusammenfassung
Nach topographisch-anatomischen und klinischen Aspekten werden Lungenembolien in vier Grundtypen eingeteilt:

akute Makroembolie mit Verschluss des Pulmonalishauptstammes, einer Haupt- oder mehrerer Segmentarterien in beiden Lungenflügeln
-
subakute Makroembolie mit Befall der Lappen-, Segment- oder Subsegmentarterien
-
periphere Makroembolie mit Befall der kleineren Lungenarterien
-
Mikroembolie mit Verschluss der Arteriolen und Lungenkapillaren.
