Zusammenfassung

Haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae und Neisseria meningitidis sind die drei häufigsten Erreger für systemische bakterielle Infektionskrankheiten im Säuglings- und Kindesalter. Gefährdete Kontaktpersonen und Personen mit spezifischer Disposition zu solchen Infektionen bedürfen der Chemoprophylaxe. Chemoprophylaxe bedeutet den Einsatz von antimikrobiellen Substanzen zur Verhütung von bakteriellen Infektionen. Für eine prophylaktische Verabreichung kommen nur antimikrobielle Substanzen mit schmalem Wirkungsspektrum für diese potentiellen Erreger infrage, welche wenig Nebenwirkungen haben und geringe Kosten verursachen (18).
