Zusammenfassung

Das Internet ist nicht ein großes Netzwerk, sondern der weltweit größte Verbund von Computer-Netzwerken. Eine Reihe von diversen Netzwerken, deren kleinster gemeinsamer Nenner das Kommunikationsprotokoll TCP/IP (Transmisson ControlProtocol/InternetProtocol) ist, werden unter diesem Begriff zusammengefaßt.
