Zusammenfassung
Opportunistische Pilze wie Candida, Aspergillus und Cryptokokken können bei Patienten mit eingeschränkter Abwehrleistung zu gefährlichen Infektionserregern werden. Da durch den medizinischen Fortschritt immer mehr Patienten mit schwersten Grunderkrankungen und Immunstörungen überleben und einige Therapieformen (Transplantation, Cytostase) die Abwehrleistung drastisch reduzieren, nimmt die Zahl der Risikopatienten für diese Erkrankungen zu.
