Zusammenfassung
Die objektive Quantifizierung einer eingesetzten Interferonmenge ist nach wie vor eines der nicht zufriedenstellend gelösten Probleme bei der Bewertung dieser Wirkstoffe. Dies gilt aktuell auch fur Escoli-ß-Interferon. Die Hersteller von ß-Interferon haben, urn die Einheitlichkeit der Mengenangaben wenigstens annähernd sicherzustellen, neben einer ständig wiederholten Kalibrierung oder Eichung ihres Standardpräparates an dem offiziellen Standardpräparat der amerikanischen Gesundheitsbehörden (NIH) oder der Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO) ihr Produkt in regelmäßigen Zeiträumen in international anerkannten, unabhängigen Zentrallabors auf seinen Inhalt prüfen lassen. Darüber hinaushaben sie untereinander blinde, d. h. nicht mit der Mengenangabe des Inhalts ausgezeichnete Prüfpräparate, zur gegenseitigen Testung ausgetauscht. So konnte uber viele Jahre hinweg einigermalien sichergestellt werden, daß die Mengenangaben für Interferonpräparate international urn nicht wesentlich mehr als 15% schwankte. Seit dem ß-Interferon kommerziell eine größere Bedeutung zukommt, haben sich neu auf diesem Gebiet tätige Firmen, möglicherweise aus ungenügender Kenntnis der Sachiage und aus Geheimhaltungsgründen, nicht mehr an diese bewahrte Methode gehalten. Es ist deshalb heute recht schwierig geworden, Mengenangaben fur ß-Interferon auf ihre Richtigkeit hin einzuschätzen.
