Abstract

The use of ultrasonography, computed tomography (CT), and, to a lesser extent, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), has considerably improved the morphologic analysis of pancreatic tumors. Although the indications for the use of endoscopic ultrasonography are not yet well defined, this technique can also provide detailed images of the pancreatic and peripancreatic area (Ziegler et al. 1990).
