Zusammenfassung

Im Gegensatz zum Morbus Crohn sind exakte Daten zur Operationsfrequenz bei Colitis ulcerosa nicht bekannt. Sie liegt jedoch sicherlich erheblich niedriger als bei Morbus Crohn. Bei Patienten mit ausschließlich linksseitiger Kolitis oder gar Proktitis ist nur in Einzelfällen eine Operation, und dann zumeist wegen massiver Blutung oder Karzinomverdachts, notwendig. Die meisten Patienten, die für eine Operation in Betracht kommen, haben eine ausgedehnte Kolitis.
