Conception of the ARIS Architecture for Integrated Information Systems
The development of application software is considered expensive and both the development time and the planned costs are subject to considerable uncertainty. The tendency therefore exists to remove software development from the sphere of handicrafted one-off production to the organizational form of industrial production which is then logically described as the software factory (see Balzert, Die Entwicklimg von Software-Systemen 1982, p. 5 ff.).
