Abstract

The USSR and the two Germanies have had important trade links for many decades. In the early 1990s the USSR faces difficult internal reforms, and internal and external adjustments are required. Improving trade and investment relations with Western Europe could play an important role in the future, and the role of a unified Germany will be influential. Growing international trade could support the internal reforms aimed at raising economic growth and restoring economic stability.
