Zusammenfassung

Diabetes mellitus und Hypertonie treten häufig zusammen auf. Beim Typ-I-Diabetes liegt bei diabetischer Nephropathie fast immer eine sekundäre Hypertonie vor. Nach zwanzig Jahren Diabetesdauer hat etwa ein Viertel der Typ-I-Diabedker eine diabetische Nephropathie entwickelt, nach 40 Jahren ist es fast die Hälfte der Patienten. Beim Typ-II-Diabetes (sog. Altersdiabetes) schätzt man die Prävalenz der Hypertonie auf etwa 50%. Dabei handelt es sich meist um eine primäre (essendelle) Hypertonie.
