Zusammenfassung
Der Gebrauch intravasaler Katheter gehört heute zur täglichen Routine in der Klinik. Es ist selbstverständlich, daß jeder Patient auf einer Intensivstation einen intravasalen Zugang hat. Die Indikation zur intravasalen Kanülierung wird sehr großzügig gestellt. Diese Zugänge werden häufig nicht mehr durch einen Arzt gelegt, und auch in der Pflege ist eine gewisse Sorglosigkeit aufgetreten. Komplikationen bezogen auf den einzelnen Katheter sind selten. Durch die extrem häufige Anwendung summieren sich aber diese Komplikationen, die manchmal sehr schwerwiegende Folgen haben können. Vor dem Einlegen eines intravasalen Katheters soll man immer sich wieder in Erinnerung rufen, welche Komplikationen bei der geplanten Technik vorkommen können. Durch eine größere Sorgfalt und bessere Pflege können viele der Komplikationen vermieden werden. Bei genauem Kennen der verschiedenen Gefahren wird auch die Indikation sorgfältiger gestellt. Wie bei allen invasiven medizinischen Maßnahmen können unerwünschte Nebenwirkungen nie vollständig verhindert werden.
